ALT-NA-CRAIG 8000.00 DONATION TO MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION

We had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for £8,000 to The Make a Wish Foundation, a charity for sick children.

The residents decided this year the money raised this year should be donated to a children’s charity. The majority of the funds donated came from the money raised from the very successful Altnacraig Christmas Ball.

The donation was presented to Pauline McLeish, a volunteer of the charity, by Elaine and our oldest resident Nancy Copland, who is 101.

Pauline gave a speech and told us how the money was spent. She said that our £8000 donation would allow three very sick children to go to Florida. It would pay for their flights, accommodation, families, nursing staff and doctors to go along to support the child.

The charity were delighted with the money raised as they get no government help or lottery gifts. Since the charity was founded in the U.K. in 1986, it has helped over 8300 children have their special wishes granted.

She concluded with a big thank you to everyone who had supported the event.
